You didn’t choose Jedward

Posted in Uncategorized by noble on November 24, 2009

So the “tuneless” twins are finally out of X-Factor and I already miss them, even though there hasn’t been a show yet this week, I do. Admittedly, I loved Jedward!
There wasn’t a long list as to why I loved the twins; it wasn’t because they could sing, to be honest only one really could as the beginning of “No Matter What” on Sunday proved. It wasn’t because they we’re they we’re the best looking in the program, though I am partial to a bit of Olly Murs. Anyways, I loved Jedward because they genuinely entertained me one way or another. This weeks rendition of the Wham classic, I’m Your Man, was the most entertaining thing I’ve seen all week! Not to mention the cover they did of Ghostbusters a few weeks back.
I loved the twins so much my mate, whose also called Claire, made me an administrator of the facebook group she made called “I’d happily swap my last meal for a three-way with Jedward!” Oh yes! JOIN JOIN JOIN!
Yes, I never expected Jedward to win X-Factor and never expected them to stay over Olly Murs, as he’s just a-ma-zingggg! But, I still wish that they we’re in the competition, who’s going to bring my weekly dose of entertainment in my some what boring life now, Stacey? Pffft!

BRING BACK JEDWARD!

Is Twilight becoming more popular than Harry Potter?

Posted in Uncategorized by noble on November 20, 2009

Thurday night, sitting in, watching Russel Howard’s Good News to be precise, I flick over the TV only to turn to a New Moon trailer, instantly I get excited and start squealing like a child. My housemate, Pringle as I like to call her, turns to me and says, “Twilight is becoming more popular than Harry Potter.”
Well is it? Now I’m a big, big fan of both, but I’m beginning to agree that Twilight is getting MORE popular than Harry Potter. I think the fact that last night’s midnight viewing for New Moon was sold out within a day and the fact the Harry Potter midnight screening wasn’t sold out at all, just proves how popular the vampire love story has actually gotten.
Yes, Harry Potter fans may disagree with me, and Twilight fans may worship me, but even I, one of the biggest HP (Harry Potter) fans out there, find myself more excited by the release of the Twilight Saga then I do the most recent HP films.
Perhaps its because in my opinion Harry Potter has gotten just that little bit too far from the books that I grew up with and loved dearly. The films have gotten more about the special effects, instead of portraying the most valuable and important pieces of information needed to fully understand the story. The most recent HP film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price, is the most disappointing films out the lot and has fully put me off going to see the final one. Anyone who knows me personally knows this due to my endless rants for days after I went to see it and 34 status comments to several of my friends on facebook.
Admittedly I was “one of them people” who saw the film THEN read the book for Twilight, but I don’t think this makes me any less of a fan. I can still see that practically every key bit of information and event is put into that film, and maybe this is the reason why the Twilight Saga is getting more popular than Harry Potter. Or perhaps it’s the charm that the characters of Twilight hold? Is it because every girl now wants to date Edward Cullen? Or is it just because Robert Pattison is damn right gorgeous! Who knows?
